This week has been just as insane as the last one…where’d I leave off? Oh yes, Tuesday I started off slowly. I went out to Jason’s Deli with Lori, Crystal (and faith), Julie (and kidlets) and Sharon for Crystals birthday lunch. It was tasty but being with the girls and catching up was even better!
The afternoon was spent beautifying and shopping – I got my eyebrows done, went to Kroger and CVS for groceries before heading home and unpacking them all! While at lunch, Crystal invited Col and I to a pancake party in her house later that night. Ok, so it wasn’t so much as a party, but, since it was Shrove Tuesday and Crystal always does mass-pancake exodus every year, she was opening the doors to her friends here.
Well, I didn’t have to ask Col twice! He signed us up right away!
I can’t believe I didn’t take my camera – cause it was an impressive spread. Crystal had set out all different kinds of fillings for our pancakes (fruits, cheese, syrups, chocolate – the lot!) and she’d made gallons of pancake batter to-boot!
Magz and Sam went also and we stayed until after 10, eating pancakes and chatting. I read a bedtime story with little Orin (who is adorable!) and although I was stuffing myself with pancakes, I also added fruit to make myself feel better 😉
I dunno how Crystal does it, she was like a machine, 2 frying pans on the go at the same time, tossing each pancake that she made – and she didn’t mess a single one up! She’s totally my heroine!
Wednesday was another busy day – aren’t they all at the moment?
It started with our Spanish teachers birthday! We got about halfway through the class and one of the members Nanees, excused herself, went out to her car where she produced a cake, paper plates, candles, OJ – the lot! We sang Happy Birthday (In English, French and Spanish!) and merrily ate cake – yum!
I had to leave Spanish early to get to my next commitment on time – Lunch Bunch!
Lunch bunch has always been one of my favourite activities within the SSA group, it truly is. It’s a great way to see a different selection of ladies every month and try out new restaurants and foods.
This month we went to a place that had been referred to me by one of my online/livejournal friends, Kev. He’d discovered that this place, The Red Lion (British pub) was known for it’s curry – I’d been complaining (I know, I know, we all complain sometimes though, right? LOL!!) about just how much I’ve missed a good curry, so, he sent me there.
Lisa, in her awesome decision making, decided to have lunch bunch here at the Red Lion this month – and boy, what can I say? It didn’t disappoint!
I had the Chicken Tikka Masala, it was delicious! Better than any other curry I’ve had since I got here…from what I gathered, everyone else’s food was delicious too and the portions were very generous!
During lunch, Col called to tell me that a friend of ours had tickets for the rodeo that night and would I go to the Dairy Ashford SLB office to pick them up – he didn’t have to ask me twice! LOL! I went back to Magz and Sams house, picked up Sam and the pups and headed to the office to pick up the tickets, which, as it turned out were for the following night and not that night – which was fine with me since it meant I was gonna get to see the Rascal Flatts (who I’ve wanted to see for the last two rodeos now!).
After Dairy Ashford, Magz and Sam tried to kill me by taking me for a 2.5 hr walk in jeans and in the wrong shoes – but I managed to survive (barely!). I did make a decision then and there to keep a change of clothes in Magz and Sams for occasions such as those, when she decides it’s time to take me out for a walk! LOL!
When we arrived back at the Maddens house, Col was waiting for us – with a packet of ginger nuts for a very excited Magz, she’s been missing them from home lately, and we all know how awful those food-from-home cravings can be when they strike, so he went to the British Isles and got her a packet – cause he’s ever the gent! She then rewarded him (and me!) with a tasty Sausage casserole for dinner before we played a game of dominoes and headed home (yup, another late night! LOL!).
Thursday I woke up sounding like I’d had a head cold for a week, so, instead of going to Natalia’s house for some Be Creative knitting (and potentially giving her twin little girls the sniffles) I sat at home and caught upon blogging, picture-loading and laundry!
I’m gonna skip our Rodeo experiences and put them together into one single Rodeo post – but that was our evening activity on Thursday – Rodeo!
Friday morning we slept in through our alarms – we were both late! Oops! I joined Crystal at water aerobics in her gym and did a 45 minute work out – first time in a while – but it was lots of fun and I ended up feeling great. Well, not so much great physically since it didn’t do much to fix my cranky back, but emotionally, I came out in great spirits!
Around 1pm I had a dentist appointment, appointment no.2 in my ‘treatment plan’. Ouch. She rubbed topical gel on my gum, gave me a shot when the gel took effect (which I’m pretty sure came out of my jaw and went into my shoulder she stuck it so deep – and, not only that, but she told me I had seriously tough gum tissue in my lower jaw so she had to wiggle the needle a bunch of times to get it to where it needed to be!) and waited summore.
After a while, she started. I’d asked her (while waiting for the drugs to kick in) if insurance covered replacement fillings as I wanted to take out the silver NHS ones that fill my mouth currently and replace them with tooth-coloured ones and if not, to tell me how much it would cost to replace ’em.
Turns out, it does and since she was doing work on a tooth in front of, and behind a tooth with a silver filling she decided there was no time like the present to start replacing, careful what you wish for, or what? lol!
She got to work and it wasn’t long before I was feeling it – my jaw was still sensitive. She apologised, a lot (poor woman genuinely feels it when I’m in pain) and gave me a 2nd (and 3rd) jiggly, wiggly needle in my jaw to numb me.
By the time I’d finished getting all my shots, I was numb from my temple, down my ear, into my chin and neck…it was quite a bizarre experience! She did the work (taking longer than last time cause of the lack of jaw-numbing going on) and I came out the other side – numb for about 7 hours, with a swollen face, it was less than attractive – and, during the numb-time, I managed to bite the inside of my cheek without knowing (typical!).
After another trip to the rodeo, we got home, watched some TV we had to catch up on before getting an exciting text at 1am delivering some big news. Wow. Whoever said ‘It comes in threes’ really wasn’t making that shit up, were they?
Ok, it’s 2am…we’ve gotta be at the beach tomorrow by midday and should probably get some sleep…not to mention, there’s only so much more of Col’s music selection subjection I think I can take…
As a friend of mine says, sleep well, when it’s your time…
