Friday 9th December was a big day here in Houston, my sister was due to arrive in town. Friday night couldn’t come fast enough, standing in the baggage hall of George Bush Intercontinental airport, I couldn’t contain my excitement!
We pretty much saw each other at the same time, hugs, tears (we’d both come prepared this time with tissues) and lots of giddiness! When Col had parked the car, he joined us, we patiently waited for Nina’s luggage to hit the belt before we headed over the town to the Toyota Centre.
Since Helena had gotten an earlier flight, it meant we could head to the Toyota Centre to watch our boys, the Aeros, play. Helena *really* wanted a snuggie, or, as the Aeros called it, a ‘wearable blanket’, so we stood outside for a while (surrounded by people bundled up in many, many layers to protect them from the ‘horrible Houston cold’! LOL!!) picked up our ‘snuggies’, watched one period of the game before heading out to Outback for dinner.
Outback has always been one of, if not our FAVOURITE steakhouse to eat at. However, lately it hasn’t been up to par at all. We went to one up in Houston city, as our local one has been dodgy the last two out of three times we’ve visited, Helena was excited at going back to Outback, and our experience, well, to put it bluntly, it SUCKED.
Food took forever, service was poor and, the creme de la creme, Helena’s cheesecake dessert was frozen freakin’ solid!!!! Awful night at Outback.
We all left deflated, unhappy and grumpy. It sucked, there’s no nice way of phrasing it! I’ve also contacted Outback TWICE to no avail, I guess they really aren’t concerned about poor service in a recession!
