In spite of being up relatively early (chowing down on some bacon butties for breakfast, washed down by a cuppa and a kitkat!) we didn’t go out right away. Instead, I did some blogging notes and played around on the laptop.
We were in Singapore by about 2.30pm, we had lunch in a restaurant in Vivo City Mall, in a place called Barcelos. It was a chicken place – like Nandos, with different flavourings etc. It was gross, over priced and just a total flop. I was sad, mine was quite tasty, there just wasn’t anywhere near enough of it!
My friend in Houston, Crystal, had recommended a little cafe in the same mall, Bakerzin, so we decided to get some sweet treats to drown our terrible lunch experience sorrows! She recommended the meringue with orange sauce, which I had (though you’d never know from looking at the picture)
From there, Col and I headed out to the F1 track, in Malaysia, we hit upon a successful flow.
Day 1, the practice sessions, we did all of our picture taking, all of our shopping and got a feel for the track – it’s normally quiet, not many people care about the ‘lower’ races or for the practice sessions, so the track is pretty quiet all-round.
It’s the perfect time to do all of the things that normally have throngs of people around (namely shopping!)
Col finally picked up a killer McLaren shirt, and I landed a couple of relatively cheap ‘back marker’ car shirts (Virgin and Lotus), it was successful for both of us!
Colin S. found us about halfway through the session, we tried Popeyes (my first time) for dinner – it wasn’t bad! I wasn’t feeling particularly great though, so we abandoned the session before it was finished, to head home (in spite of it being a pain in the backside to find a taxi driver willing to take us over to Sentosa Island) and from there, it was straight to bed!
