Our Saturday (22nd) evening plans started with the Maddens and the Van der Waals in the Alamo Drafthouse cinema. We went to see ‘Footloose’, having not seen the original version, I was a bit ‘in the dark’, but it was a cute, peppy and fun movie to watch (though, the lead actors accent did my head in numerous times!)
From there, it was back to the Maddens where we indulged in a yummy Thai for dinner and a game of Cluedo. It’d been a long, long time since I’d played Cluedo, we had a great time, well, we always do with the famous four!
Sunday was another busy day – aren’t they all? There was more cleaning, laundry, packing (to go to Magz and Sams) and it was off to the Toyota Centre to watch our boys play!
After hockey, the ‘Bring Lentil in to the world’ plan, was kicked in to motion. The plan was, Col and I were to stay at Magz and Sam’s both Monday and Tuesday night, to look after the pup-dogs.
For dinner, instead of trashing the Maddens uber clean house, we decided to eat at the restaurant at the end of their street, Cheddars Casual Cafe. We’ve been eyeing it up for a while now, now that we’ve been, it’ll become a regular place for us to eat.
This place was delicious, cheap and the portions were HUGE!
We started out with some onion rings (which should have been an appetizer for 4!!), Col had a Monte Cristo – essentially, a deep fried sandwich, and I had a grilled Buffalo chicken wrap. It was all really tasty and we took home boxes of left overs for Sam to enjoy when he got back from the hospital.
Monday morning (24th) Pop-dog decided it was time to get up (at 6.15am!!), so I had a quick shower, while Col did his emails, then we drove to Sugar Land, so Col could pick up the other car and have a shower. After Col went to work, I picked up a breakfast in Panera Bread (yum!!!), a coffee for Sam and headed down to the hospital for shortly after 10.
Magz was hooked up to a scanner, and I pretty much spent the entire time watching her numbers and lentil’s numbers go up and down – I was fascinated.
Col came down to go to lunch with me, we left Magz around 2pm, during lunch, Sam text to say that it was time to push (not long after we’d left) and to wait outside when we got back from lunch, so we did.
The waiting was AWFUL! I was texting Emily every 3 seconds, her poor phone must have been vibrating off the table.
I was excited, nervous, terrified (I could hear everything) but no one else in Houston knew where Magz was or where I was, so I couldn’t text anyone to distract me, I just had to wait. And wait… Col went to pick up his suit and my choir shirt and I just had to wait. Ok, so I cracked and may have texted Crystal and Julie, but by that stage Lentil was so very close to being born that it made little difference.
Lentil was born at 4.24pm, I almost knew the moment, I said 4.25pm, but I was 60 seconds out!
Welcome to the world Evelyn ‘Eve’ Jennifer Rose Madden, born Monday 24th at 4.24pm, 7lbs 15oz and 21inches long, mummy and daddy are both doing fine and little Eve is a precious wee dote!
Eve had listened to her Aunty Las and come before her choir performance! What a good little girl!
What we didn’t expect, was the traffic! I10 East was bumper to bumper, an 18 wheeler had overturned and it was insane! I was late, but, thankfully for me, so were a lot of people!
We started with a rehearsal (while Col went to a ‘reception’), then we sat at our assigned tables for the introduction, before we got up to perform. We sang four songs, I was excited, more than nervous and I enjoyed it immensely. I had a great time, when I sat down at the end of it, Col was buzzing – thankfully, he’d loved it too!
We listened to the guest speakers, ate our three course dinner and headed home, pretty late. Magz and Sam’s poor dogs were in need of a cuddle, so we watched the X-Factor, gave the dogs some play time and cuddles and headed to bed!
So did anyone record the concert because I want to see (and hear!) it! I feel like a mom who missed her kid’s recital 🙁
