He shoots, He Scores…Friday, Saturday AND Sunday!

Get your minds out of the gutter readers! I’m referring to the weekend of back to back sports Col and I enjoyed this past weekend!

Friday night, a friend of our had tickets to the Schlumberger suite at the Toyota centre for the Aeros game.  She offered us two that she had spare.

I’ve only ever been in a corporate suite once, at the Giants for my birthday – and it was a heck of a lot of fun.  Friday night, wasn’t much different.  It was pretty much all you can drink (soda, beer, wine, liquor) and all you can eat (hotdogs, chicken wings, crisps and nuts).  The view was excellent (it was right at centre ice) and we had a really good night.

The game itself was a mess, we were down by two within the first 5 minutes, we faught back to be winning 4-2, only to have to go to overtime, as the Admirals clawed back 2 more.  We won in overtime – but anyone who knows me, knows that my nerves don’t stand up very well to overtime, especially when hopped up on too much caffeine! EEK! Not only that – but I had to ‘behave’ cause we were in the company of other SLB employees and some of their customers – double eek! I managed to hold my tongue for the most part and not disgrace myself *too* much, though, again, if you know me, being quiet at hockey isn’t my strongest suit!

Saturday we headed up to Heather’s house to pick up some more tickets from her.  Turns out she had 2 (which later became 4 as they couldn’t get a babysitter) tickets for the Houston Rockets (Basketball) game that night.  We picked them up, went to Red Robin for lunch (I’d been sent a coupon for a free meal for my birthday, whoot!), went to Magz and Sams where I took a nap on their sofa (Sam was out with the doggies and Magz was in bed taking a nap) before we headed out to the game.

Pre-game

The game itself was excellent! I’ve not seen much basketball, but it doesn’t take much to get sucked in.  The carpark was full and the arena was about 3 or 4 times more full than it is for hockey games.  The atmosphere was electric, they had drums and costumes and chants – it felt like home.

The Rockets won (yay!) and after the game, we picked up some Mexican (I enjoyed a lovely margarita while we waited) and ate it back at Magz and Sams before we called it a night (I know, no ligretto *gasp*shock horror* lol!!).

Saturday was a lie-in lazy kind of day.  When I woke up, Col told me to ‘sleep more’, so I did and it was still only just morning by the time I got up – which would be embarrassing if I’d not gotten around 4 hours of sleep per night, all of last week!

After a lunch of left over pizza, while watching Top Gear, Col and I headed down to Pearland for a dander.  We managed Half Price Books and Best Buy before we got disheartened and decided to head up to the game.

Yes, another sporting event – it was quite the ‘triple threat’ this weekend! These tickets were also free, we’d gotten them from a food-drive the Aeros did back in January, I think it was.

Col pre-game

It was bring a can of food, get a free ticket and us, Magz & Sam, Tracy & Trudy and Colin (a guy Col works with) and his son Raymond all reaped the rewards!

The Las-meister as Crystal affectionately calls me 🙂

Post-game, we were ravenous! So we headed to our favourite Italian restaurant, Carinos, for a late dinner.  Carinos is the restaurant that hosted our Rehearsal dinner back in October – and it’s delicious, inexpensive and has a great atmosphere (not to mention great bread! lol!!).

It was a lovely end to a great, busy, sports-filled weekend!
