I didn't know I'd married Tim Allen!

Saturday 12th November, after Col had a quick chat with home, we decided to embark on a merry voyage to Ikea (as our first attempt came to a crashing halt due to traffic!)

Ikea, was a lot more fun than it’s ever been before, we took our time, we enjoyed a nice lunch and we did some shopping!  We sat in the cafe people-watching in the car park and counting how many people were illegally parked in the ‘family’ car parking spaces, who didn’t have kids with them – it was crazy!

We started with Dave, we don’t have a coffee table in the living room, we also haven’t gotten round to putting a panel in the sofa, so we decided to pick up a couple of Dave’s to use in the living room (we all know sitting with your laptop on your knee isn’t good for ya!)

Isn't he fine?

He’s gone down pretty well in Casa McMaster, and he was pretty cheap and easy to assemble too!

Next up, was a big big project for me, I’d had all of my yarn separated into two places, 1. a cupboard between the living room and kitchen and 2. in a corner of my living room.  It’s not tidy, it’s not organised and it’s been driving me friggin’ crazy!

This is before, check out the mosquito repellent plug-in, welcome to Texas!

This is during…Col went at it guns-a-blazin’!

The finished product! (I’ve since gotten drawers for 3 of the 4 empty slots) Col did good work! I’m very happy and so is my yarn, it finally has somewhere to live!

After Ikea, we went to World Market (to pick up some digestives, discount food from home and shop for another unit, to hold my dishes!).

Sunday brought with it my second performance with the UNAI choir, in the Houston Ballet centre, it was fun, a short set, only three songs, before a late dinner at Magz and Sam’s house, with the Van der Waals (who catered!) It was fun, as always, and there was, of course, little Eve cuddles!

Tuesday evening, I went to St. Theresa’s church with a few members of the choir.  I’ve volunteered to help coordinate the International food fest. after our concert in December.  We went to the church to have a look around, get an idea of what kind of space we are working with and what kind of things we need to invest in to make the night a success.  It was a quick-ish visit, it was the traffic that was mustard!

Wednesday, I went back to the gym for the first time in a week.  Seriously, don’t ask.  I think I’ve got to go and see a doc about what I suspect is a hormonal imbalance (bite your tongue on the jibes please!).  It was fun, I often forget how fab the gym makes me feel!

After the gym, Magz, Natalie and I had lunch at TGI Fridays, it was cheap and tasty.  From there, it was time to head to First Colony Mall to spend our Body Shop Groupons (I came home with a bulging bag full o’yummy smelling bath stuff!) back at home, I got out my baking gear and threw together some gingerbread cupcakes (which, Sam told me, were the best I’ve made so far!)

After my baking, I went to Cam Sa’s house (from my choir), she’d cooked a few of us dinner and we had a team meeting about what needs done, going forward, for the Christmas concert.  It was at her dinner table, that another choir member, Judy asked me if I liked the Beatles tickets (and our Friday night plans were born!)

Thursday we had a delicious margarita -eh, I mean Mexican dinner at my favourite Mexican haunt, Chuys, we were accompanied by Magz, Sam, (with Eve), Mariano, Kat (with Lucas and Matias), Jamie and Nat.  It was good fun – and the margarita was as tasty as ever! (Man, I’m getting slack on the not taking pictures bit!)

Col wasn’t feeling so great, so it was an early-ish night, at least Col did.  I, on the other hand, had a date with some of the SSA ladies at the midnight premier of Twilight’s ‘Breaking Dawn’ part I.

It was ok, better than at least two of the other movies they’ve produced and none of them even comes any way close to the books – let’s just leave it at that!

Friday was a great day for me, not so much for our credit card, but for the first time in a while I went clothes shopping and was successful!

I bought up a storm, I picked up shirts, work out gear, winter stuff for skiing and a bunch of Christmas presents for people too.  It was a very successful shopping trip and poor Natalie must think all I do is shop – which isn’t true at all!

It was a long, long day at the outlets, we weren’t back at Magz’s until around 5pm and shortly after, Col arrived to whisk me away to the Hobby Centre, to watch the Beatles tribute show Rain.  The service there was abysmal, the food was cold, the queue’s were long and there was one solitary guy working four food stations.  It really was a disgrace!  The show was fantastic though!

Saturday night was curry night in Magz and Sam’s – I mention it here because, though it was the only thing ‘to note’ about Saturday, Sam made a cracking chicken curry, the boy did good!!

  1. Yay for homing your yarn!

And I feel you on the hormonal imbalance thing. It’s so irritating to have to put up with the constant change of them each month and I know some girls just seem to breeze through with no problems but I’m not one of them and I really really hate it!
