Last week in review…

Taking a break from the day-to-day from our vacation in Seattle, to tell y’all about last week.   It was, for the most part, a quiet one, Monday was pretty busy, but, that aside, it was just cold and filled with sporadic weather warnings and phonecalls from the landlady to ask us to keep water flowing through the pipes so they didn’t burst.

Sunday, Col and I vegged all day in front of the TV.  We were supposed to go to our friend Tracy’s house for a Superbowl party but neither of us could drag our butts off the sofa to get out of our pjs – let alone, go and be social with people.

Instead we crashed on the sofa all day, I watched my first Superbowl like the good little wannabe American I am – and more than that, I actually enjoyed it (and the commercials!).  Col tells me that last year I slept through the Superbowl cause I was sick, I vaguely remember a pretty bad migraine that crippled me for a few days last January, I guess that was it!  I fell asleep in the last quarter though, I was fighting to stay awake right through to the end – and managed to get quite a lot of sleep Sunday/Monday night.

Monday was the SSA board meeting and for a change, we decided to have it in a nice little cafe on the outskirts of the city.  The drive there – since it was rush hour – even though I took the toll road,  was manic.  I’ve decided t0 trust my judgement and ignore my satnav more going forward.  She gets me in to some pickly situations and makes me very uncomfortable!

Anyway the board meeting was fun, we drank tea (yes, the hot kind) and enjoyed a little breakfast while we discussed business.  For once, the board meeting ended early *gasp* and this month’s lunch bunch had been scheduled to take place after we’d finished – and only across the road so we just had to cross the road to get to our next location.

Turns out, we were 45 minutes early for lunch bunch, so, I took little Hazel from Julie and sent her off to run her errands and Hazel and I took a little walk around in the sunshine before I sat down in McCormick & Schmick’s for a cuppa while I waited for the other ladies to appear – the wait staff thought Hazel was mine and kept asking me questions about her, one even asked me where I got my stroller and if I had any advice on how to pick a stroller for a toddler/baby combo!

We enjoyed a great lunch bunch, it was a small one, but those are often the best kind! The service was outstanding, the food was great and the company was the best! After lunch I headed back to Magz’s house for a cuppa – yes, I drank a lot of tea on Monday! I drank more tea on that one day than I have collectively from all my other social adventures since we moved out here!

Tuesday I slept.

No, really, I don’t think I got out of bed until just shy of midday.  No idea what was wrong with me, probably exhaustion catching up with me from our trip to Seattle.

Thursday, a couple of ladies came around to my house for crafting.  It’s a child-friendly ‘Stitch and bitch’ group that I’ve created here within the SSA that we’ve called, ‘Be Creative’.  It’s for anyone, any craft and with any kids to come around and craft together.  It’s slow to take off, but it’ll get there and I’ve certainly had a number of ladies interested – either way, it’s time I set aside for me to knit – which I need!

Col ended up working a little later than planned, we ended up using a B1G1 free coupon from our Entertainment guide and having dinner at the 9ers grill (we both got fed for $9 – excellent!) before we hit up Half Price Books to try and find a book that I’m missing.  Turns out I have almost every other book in the collection, bar the book smack dab in the middle of it – so I can’t continue until I get it. (It’s currently Tuesday and I’m still waiting for it to arrive!)

True to form, HPB’s didn’t have the book I needed so we came home to cuddle on the sofa, no laptops (or knitting) and watch a few episodes of the last season of the Tudors (I’m going to be sad when it’s over!) – not before I managed to slam the car door on my leg, an injury which hurt all night and made me yelp every time I rolled over on to my left side during the night (and it still hurts!!).  Strangely enough there’s no bruise (I say strangely enough cause I tend to bruse when someone so much as pokes me!) but there’s a golfball-esque lump under the skin in my leg which is quite bizarre!

Coming up in the adventures of Las and Col, my fantastic birthday weekend (I may be the only person I know who gets a 4, yes, FOUR day birthday celebration!) and more from our trip to Seattle.

Wow.  I never realised how boring a blog post is without pictures!
