Last night, Col and I decided to finally use our Groupon tickets that I picked up a while ago, for $5 each, we got a movie ticket and a non-alcoholic drink, pretty good bang for your buck!
After we left the Maddens house and went home, we decided that since the Aeros were getting thrashed 4-1 (6-2 final) that a webcast probably wasn’t going to be worth the cash (or, lets face it the bad mood!). Instead, we grabbed our Groupons and headed up the road to the Studio Movie Grill. I’ve had a few friends who’ve been in the past, they all love it and it came recommended for a night out.
So, after doing some homework, Col discovered that the newest film that we wanted to see Tower Heist, was in the ‘non reserved’ category, and that we could use our groupons! whoot!
We bundled in the car, headed up the road and tried out something new. Which is, something I’ve learned over the years, something we both absolutely LOVE to do! The movie itself was pretty good, we laughed a lot and I personally, think it was funnier than I expected it to be!
Without giving too much of the plot away, Ben Stiller is the building manager for an apartment complex called The Tower. The most affluent tenant in the apartment building, Aurthur Shaw (Alan Alda) is accused of a Ponzi scheme, in which he lost all of the employees of the apartment buildings pensions. Stiller and a few of the employees get together and decide to attempt to steal Shaw’s fortune – enlisting the help of petty thief ‘Slide’ aka Eddie Murphy.
It’s a pretty funny movie and made for a fun evening out, not a bad comeback for Mr Murphy!
My ‘meh’ experience comes from the quality of the food, (which we paid full price for), it wasn’t worth the $$.
Grossly out of proportion, plenty of the ‘cheap’ stuff and not much ‘meat’.
Another thing that bothered me was you can substitute your fries for a side of fresh fruit for a $2.50. Upgrade to something healthy that grows on trees for $2.50, or substitute for fries, sweet potato fries or tortilla chips for free. Hmmm…and people wonder why obesity is a problem?
We’d probably go back, but next time I won’t be afraid to speak up about the fact my food is luke-warm, or that hubby didn’t get any kind of dips with his quesadillas! I do have to confess, though, I prefer the Alamo Draft house!
