I had chicken defrosted, and no idea what to do with it.
As always, Pinterest came through for me, and after ‘Slimming worlding’ it up a little by using a lower calorie sugar substitute, we were ready to go.
I, personally, thought it was a little too sweet and could have done with some balsamic vinegar or something, to cut the sweetness a little.
But it was definitely yet another repeatable recipe in the McMaster household!
Baked Garlic Brown Sugar Chicken

Ingredients
- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 4 tablespoons brown sugar - 6 syns (I used the ½ and ½ substitute)
- Pam/Spray oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 500°F and lightly grease a casserole dish.
- In small sauté pan, sauté garlic with the oil until tender.
- Remove from heat and stir in brown sugar.
- Place chicken breasts in a prepared baking dish and cover with the garlic and brown sugar mixture.
- Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Bake uncovered for 15-30 minutes.
Notes
For me, personally, it's a little too sweet, next time I'd add a splash or two of balsamic vinegar to cut through the sweetness and add a little tart!
This is already on my list of things to try… but I like it sweet, so I’ll probably just leave it as is!!
