Last Friday was a kind of D – Day for Col, he had his 2nd Quarter review in work, he mentioned to his boss that our visas were coming up on our 3 year term here in the US (in 6 months or so) and asked if he’d like us to renew them. The answer was in the affirmitive and we’ve been given a green light to renew our visas for the 2-year extension, when the time comes.
With Magz out of town, I’ve invited Sam down to join us on occasion, tonight was one of those nights, I was cooking BBQ chicken burgers with some roasted garlic potatoes and he decided to come down with the doggies and spend the evening with us.
Well, come midnight, I’m sticking a Digorno pizza in the oven and the 3 of us are hurling abuse at Channel 4’s ‘Come dine with me’ while we’re watching random people, cooking, for random people.
Saturday morning the phone rang early – telemarketers REALLY piss me off, ESPECIALLY on weekend mornings. GAH! Their repetative ringing resulted in Col and I getting up way earlier than we’d planned.
As a sort of consolation, I told Col to hop in the car, I was taking him to Denny’s (c’mon!) for his breakfast. It wasn’t a particularly great meal – it would seem that all of the restaurants in the Missouri City area are slipping, standards-wise!
After breakfast, it was home to do some laundry and pack for both of my upcoming trips, (while I put laundry away, Col serenaded me on Sing Star). Before we headed out, I checked my email (as I’m known to do!) and the Assistant Manager of Buffalo Wild Wings in Sugar Land had sent me an email. He’d apologised for the poor service we’d received and offered us a $25 gift card to entice us to try their branch again – I’m not sure whether we’ll use it or not, I don’t want them spitting in our food or anything!
For dinner that evening, it was back to Lupe Tortilla’s Mexican (the place we went the previous weekend with Julie et all), to have dinner with Mariano, Kat and the boys and Colin, Amee, Pierce and Michael.
Dinner itself was yummy (as it tends to be in Lupe’s) and, when we’d done, the whole crew of us headed over to Town Square, where some of us got Starbucks (Col) and some of us got Ben and Jerry’s ice cream (me!) and we all sat around the fountain chatting, and, eventually watching part of Shrek when it came on the big screen (it was family night in Town Square!)
Sitting watching Shrek with little Lucas was fun, I kept poking his nose and in return, he kept poking mine and he gave me not one, not two, but THREE kisses goodbye! Such a cutie pie!
By the end of the evening, we’d discovered that Pierce thought our wedding was the best night EVER and he wants us to have a third wedding – cause he thinks three is the magic number. We also discovered, quite by accident, that some people we know that are taking cheap shots at the fact we had two wedding days. Not that i’m overly bothered by it, I’m more bemused that even eight months after the fact, the day is still being talked about – must have been quite the barn burner, eh? 😉
People think we are crazy for 2 weddings.. and new friends think that we are just pretending we are married and that the “real deal” is in 2 month. GAH! It’s interesting explaining to old ladies that we got married but we’re getting wedded again. lol.
YAY for being in the USA for 2 more years.. hopefully we’ll get a chance to meet up!
yay! I definitely think we will – hopefully pretty soon!
