Woman on a mission…part I

I have no idea what’s wrong with me, but I’m a woman on a mission.  Maybe it’s cause it’s the new year and a new beginning, maybe I’m nesting (no, Pierce, I’m not pregnant), or maybe now that I’m over our wedding, Christmas, New Year and my surgery, I just feel like cleansing and purging but either way, my house is being pulled apart and put right back together again.

Piles of paperwork all organised and ready to 'file'

I wish I could say I have a system, or that I’m taking it a room at a time, however that is not the case.  I come upon something that’s out-of-place, untidy, messy and I fix it and find a home for it.  It’s very therapeutic and although the house doesn’t look leaps and bounds better to visitors, but for Col and I, it’s most definitely an improvement.  I’ve got most of the downstairs started and/or finished, with just my ‘area’ in the living room and the back hall that needs attention.

Some unsorted, rubbish, a mix of everything really - and a cuppa!

Last Wednesday, I finally got to use my groupon for the Planet Beach Spa.  I got the groupon in August or something, it cost only $20 and is valid for a week’s worth of services from the Planet Beach Spa.

It’s not your typical spa, as it’s services are all provided to you by machine.  They have 3 main machines,

Hydro-Derma Fusion – Revitalize your skin with this ultimate, nutrient-rich, moisture treatment. Designed for deep hydration, this treatment will leave your skin nourished, beautiful and rejuvenated.

This was the first machine I tried out.  It’s definitely hot.  You apply oil all over (except your face), lie there for 20 minutes and have steam jetted at you at 120 degrees F.  It got too hot for me, I had to open it up on numerous occasions – I did come out feeling like I’d done an hour work out though and my skin was lovely and soft when I dried off!

Hydro Massage – Relax and rejuvenate your tired muscles. The Hydro Massage beds utilize heat and water pressure to relieve stress, decrease muscle tension and increase flexibility.

This was up next on my to-do list, I LOVED it! You lie on a bed, play solitaire on a touch screen TV panel and, what I can only describe as a water canon, shoots water at your body from below (you can set your own speed and pressure).  This was probably my favourite of the 3 and I could have lay there all day!

Luminous Facial – Our Luminous Facial is the first complete, naturally advanced FDA approved skin care treatment that uses light therapy with topical skin care products and dietary supplements that work with the body’s own natural processes to: • Reduce fine lines, wrinkles and dark circles • Clear and soothe problematic skin • Create even skin tone and texture • Purge and close clogged pores • Provide immediate lifting and tightening • Stimulate cellular renewal • Lighten age and sun spots

This freaked me out a little, seriously bright light directed at your face – and a massage chair that hurt like heck – even on the low setting, (but you’re too afraid to lurch forward in pain in case you crack your face off the bright light! LOL!)

Anyways, it was fun – and we’re going back again!

After the Spa, of course we needed sustenance – so it was off for a dander around Cinco Ranch to find somewhere for a spot of lunch.  We came across Mission Burrito and decided to give it a shot as neither of us had eaten there before!

I ordered chicken nachos – they were HUGE! And totally covered in molten cheese.  As it turned out, they were also delicious – but neither of us could even eat half of our bowls and Magz took a healthy box of leftovers home for Poppy and Bazil.

Had we known it would be so big, we'd have shared!

On the way home, I stopped in HEB to pick up some groceries, by the time I got home, my mood had soured.  Even the package on the doorstep from my brother-in-law Gary and his wife Emma did little to cheer me up – and it had Tayto AND Cadbury’s in it (that tells you just how down I was if Tayto and Cadbury’s didn’t work to cheer me up!).

yay new slippers!

Even my Shawn the Sheepy Mark II slippers (we’ve been mourning the loss of Shawn mark I’s for a year or so now) which I LOVE, only did so much to perk me up.

I was so down (for reasons I can’t divulge on such a public arena without pissing about 30 people off /end bitterness), that when Col went down to Pearland for football I ended up in a mess of tears.  It wasn’t pleasant, but my wonderful friends chatted and texted me for a while, I wrote a private blog about what was going on in my head and felt much better.  Thankfully, cause I hate crying and having puffy eyes!

We created our own Marble Slab - ice cream cures all! LOL!

Thursday, I got re-bitten by whatever re-organising bug that’s possessed me at the moment.  I took pictures of all of the boxes of wedding stuff in our back hall (I have a few people getting married who want to look at it before I put it on ebay to sell), I organised everything, boxed them up in tote boxes and labelled them.  It felt good to clear out the back hall, because, til now, I’ve been sandwiched between boxes of wedding stuff and the washing machine and tumble dryer!

6 full boxes and one empty!

Col, after hearing my rave reviews the day before about Mission Burrito wanted to go get some lunch.  He actually preferred it to Chipotle! *gasp!* Blasphemer!! LOL! It was nice to have lunch with him, it’s been a while.  It was smaller than the previous one I’d had with Magz…

Smaller portion...but still HUGE!

The afternoon was spent tidying, I did make time for an apple cider vinegar rinse and deep conditition for my hair though – bring on Seattle so I can get my hair cut, it’s a matter or some urgency!

Thursday night, we went out for dinner with Magz, Sam and one half of the Van der Waals (Em was stuck in work so I had two margaritas on her behalf!) to Chuys – our go-to great Mexican food, margaritas that blow your mind and you’re surrounded by a plethora of colours kind of place.

The meal was in honour of Sam who passed his first semester of exams with WG and it was tasty and bunches of fun, as always!

mmmmmmmmm my Margarita swirl! <3

Friday morning, I finally got to see my crafting friend Helen.  I’m not exaggerating when I say, it’s been months.  Months! Not only since I’ve seen her, but even longer than that since I was crafting – and, although not much crafting was done.  I did make a good start into, yes, you’ve guessed it, organising!

She brought with her my wedding present (the BIGGEST bag of hockey scrapbooking stuff I’ve ever seen!) and a yummy breakfast from Panera Bread which went down a treat!

sorting out paper...

I spent a few hours after she’d gone, organising the craft room – which was where Col arrived home to find me.  I abandoned the room in chaos (well, it’s gotta get worse before it gets better, right?!) and we headed out to watch our Aeros in the Toyota Centre.

End of the game - we win!!

I’m so glad we went (I was almost for staying in and finishing what I’d started in my craft room!), what a game it turned out to be! It was one of the best games I’ve seen in years – on either side of the Atlantic.  Col tells me I scared the 4 little kids sitting in front of us with my whooping, hollering and yelling.  I probably did, but they need to learn young that that’s what hockey’s all about eh? 😉

It was great fun, we won and I was buzzing and hoarse (not to mention utterly freezing!) the entire way home!
