Alright readers, a friend of mine did this on her blog a while ago and I thought it was a fantastic idea.
I read a lot of blogs, some of which I thread into my Facebook feed, some I get email notifications for, some, I read through my Livejournal account, some I see updates for on Twitter.
Regardless of how I read them, point is, I read them…and you should too! (These are brought to you in no particular order!)
”A Queer couple in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania who are living the good life and navigating the world as best as we can. This journal is just us putting ourselves out there so others can share the journey with us.”
What a great couple! They’ve recently embarked on trying to get pregnant, and have gone through the crushing blow of losing their successful pregnancy only a short time ago. It’s raw, it’s real and it’s right there in black and white. A great read!
‘The Diary of a 20-something ex-pat’
Frances has recently moved to Houston, she’s a writer, a baker and a candlestick maker…ok, so, not so much the later, but I wouldn’t put it past her! She’s well travelled, has lived in various places around the globe and blogs from each one – and if her tasty treats don’t lure you in, then you must be a robot!
‘NHL hockey – British passion’
For all you hockey fans out there, NHL, AHL and Elite League alike, you should check out Paul’s blog. He combines two of my favourite things (writing and hockey) and does a bloody good job of it too! He’s been a fan of hockey since 2000, (that’s 11 years for those of you, like me, who don’t like to do the calculating!) and is currently a PBP guy for the Coventry Blaze. If you have any inclination towards the sport – check him out!
‘I am a wife and a mommy to one beautiful girl. I want to share my joys, my sorrows, and everything in between. This is a place for lots and lots of love.’
Izzy blogs to the world from Seattle, she’s currently expecting her 2nd little baby (due on my birthday no less!) and blogs about her everyday life, working full-time and being a wife, mother and incubator for her second baby!
5. Journalitico
”23. Irish. Student. Trinity ‘graduand’ of Business & German. Graduating in December. Political Junkie. News junkie.Currently working on a Graduate Work Placement programme in Leinster House, Dáil Éireann (Irish House of Reps) as an assistant to a member of parliament.”
Danielle maybe have only been blogging for a short time, but her writing talents have been growing for years now (including on Livejournal – where, in fact, we met!). Current affairs and matters of political interest sprinkled with some everyday randoms makes for an interesting read (and a way for those lazy among us, to keep up to date with current affairs!)
6. If all the world were apple pie
Becky is on a quest to dig out all the best bits of food – cooking it, baking it and eating it!
My girl Bex in Manchester may have slacked on her blog lately, but she plans on getting back in there any day now (nudge nudge!) which she seems to be doing a fine job of! She’s a big foodie, loves trying things, cooking things and sharing things (we always eat killer meals when we go to visit!) If you love food, (cooking or eating!) check her out!
7. SimplySera
I’ve known Sera now, for going on 20 or more years. (Holy crap by the way!!), she’s been working hard at losing weight and getting healthy for almost 4 months now, in that 18 weeks she has lost 3st 2.5lb (or 44.5lbs). A huge achievement and the pounds just keep falling! (And she’s probably lost more since I started this blog!)
She’s a real inspiration, using the Slimming World programme as her tool she’s lining ’em up, and takin’ em down, one dress size at a time! For anyone who’s ever had an issue with their weight, dieting, feeling like they’re alone, can’t do it or need inspiration and motivation – check her out!

”I am in the process of joining a (Christian) religious order. The aim of this blog is partly to explain what is involved in this, and to journal my experiences as I move from the secular world to the religious life.”
Lou has been a friend of mine now for a number of years, she’s always felt the call of the church to her and she’s pretty much had her mind made up for a long time now, that this was her path. She’s going through a transition, it’s a long road but she’s walking it hand in hand with God, her friends and her family. Check out her journey!
9. A voice for reproductive justice
Katie Stack is a graduate student in Gender & Women’s Studies who is a vocal supporter of changing the climate of the abortion debate. She’s passionate about empowering young people have an active and engaged presence in their communities and encourages them to organize for themselves. Stack is an Iowa native who currently resides in Minnesota with her big fluffy cat, Bella.
I’ve known Katie for almost as long as I’ve known Amber. It’s been at least five years. Katie and I often have differing political views and have, on occassion been pretty vocal (I know you’re all shocked that I can be vocal!). However, that said, she is a fiercely smart lady with a lot of passion for what she believes in and I greatly respect her (and what she’s attempting to do for Gender issues in the US today).
”This is a blog about whatever I happen to be thinking about. It will hopefully contain things like book reviews and thoughts on, I suppose, culture, but it’s entirely possible it’ll end up containing a whole lot of swearing instead. Or as well.”
Kerrie and I met on Livejournal, an online journaling site, from there, we met in person at a Giants hockey game one night and we’ve been friends ever since. She’s a great writer (though she doesn’t believe it) and covers a wide variety of topics across the board. She writes with passion and panache and has a great command of the English language! Check it out!
As a bonus, someone I don’t know in ‘real life’,
No.11 I guess…
”Thirty (…ish), child free, extraordinarily self-centred with a penchant for Spanish men and salsa music. Also I think if the word “fuck” were removed from the English language, my ability to form sentences may cease completely. I blog about whatever takes my fancy, though largely I’ll be using this space to bitch about vapid, stupid women, megalomaniacal men and society’s insistence that all women must reproduce to be of any real worth. There may also be the occasional photo of Javier Bardem. But that’s just a bonus.”
I came across this blog from a friend on Facebook. I’d put out a call for new blogs to check out and she recommended the Barreness. I laughed out loud, a lot. She rocks!
There you have it guys’n’gals!
10 blogs for you to visit and check out – though always remember who you love most 😉
Aw thank you for this! I really appreciate it 🙂 I’m going to check out the other blogs you recommended too!
Good stuff 🙂 let me know if you like/dislike any of them!
Well, I guess I’d best just go and get myself another post done!
Yes you should 😉
