Wow – have I really not blogged about our ‘regular’ lives since we got back from K.L? That’s all kinds of crazy!
Let me take you back a few weeks ago, to the weekend of the 15th of April – boy, did we pack that sucker full of sports or what?
We kicked it off with a little playoff hockey. It’s the 3rd season in the last 4 that the Aeros have made it to the Calder Cup Playoffs. For those of you who don’t know, the playoffs bring with them a whole different level of hockey.
If you thought it was a fast and physical game before hand – you will want to watch a playoff hockey game. It’s faster, it’s more physical and it’s more nail-biting than any regular season game (at least for me).
Not only that, but my inner psycho (that I normally keep so well hidden from the world 😉 lol!) tends to become a lot harder to hide when it’s time for the playoffs.
The Aeros won, not without almost inducing a nervous breakdown…it went to OT. I think I’ve perhaps mentioned it once or twice before…
I.HATE.OVERTIME.
My nerves can’t take it.
It’s sudden death.
First goal wins.
It’s friggin’ awful!
Anyways, thankfully they won – it was a little stressful, but, we won so I can’t complain too much!
Saturday was a lot more laid back!
We got up early and headed up to Humble, just a bit North of the city. Where Sam was cashing in on his Christmas present of flying lessons!
Originally the plan was for Sam and Col to go up together, however the plane was smaller than anticipated, so Sam went up solo and Col & I chilled out with Magz in the lovely sunshine!
That evening, we headed to our first baseball game of the 2011 season. Again, for those of you who don’t know, for the most part, baseball is a pretty laid back game.
There’s not much screaming or jumping, hollering of abuse. It’s all very dignified (and, largely pretty slow burning until the 6th inning or so!).
The roof was off, the sun was shining, and aside from being pretty damn hot out there, it was a really nice night. Such a shame that it wasn’t a Friday (we get a free fireworks display on a Friday night!).
The Astros won – which was a surprise to most, as they haven’t been doing particularly well so far this season, though, it is early days yet!
Sunday, it was off to Shanghai to watch the Chinese Grand Prix – yes, I know, back in the day, when a lot of you knew me, I wasn’t so much the sports fan. But that changed…I’ve loved hockey for about 6 years now, maybe 7 (who’s counting?), I’ve loved F1 for about 3 and I’ll pretty much watch anything that I can find (and you’ll notice we often go to basketball, baseball, even footie games on occasion – in spite of the fact I can’t stand football!).
Anyways, as weekends go, it was pretty perfect and filled with a whole bunch of sport which inevitably kept us both entertained and busy!
Until next time…
