Almost caught up!

Whoot!

Ok, so at least almost caught up with May – I haven’t forgot that I’ve STILL not written up our wedding! EEK!

Friday (6th May) was another baking day, I made a batch of Orange and poppy seed cupcakes, which I wasn’t overly pleased with, but Col devoured when he got home.  I also cooked a couple of lasagnes (which also went down a treat here in Casa McMaster!).

Friday night we went to see my boys play again.  Following the heart failure of the previous game (when it went to OT cause Milwaukee tied up the score), tonight was no better! The Aeros decided to cruise along, losing 2-1 until the last 4 minutes of play! Well good God my nerves were FRIED!

Saturday brought with it a day of Madden packed fun!

We started out at Track 21.  Magz and I picked up a groupon for our hubbies.  It was for a couple of races on the track and a free soda for each of us.

Col taking a turn!

Col was a little nervous ahead of his time on the track.  He wasn’t sure what to expect.  But, in spite of the fact that he was nervous, had an engine under his tushie cookin his gluts, he had a great time.  They both did.

Sam!

Magz and I spent the entire time trying to get some decent pictures taken – it was so hard!  My best shots, are of course, from when they were stopped! LOL!

Col aka 'Seb'

When we were done, we filled up the griffin (turns out that NW Houston had the cheapest gas around!) we headed to Best Buy (taking some weird and not-so-wonderful scenic route courtesy of Mr McMaster) to check out the freezers, before going to the Maddens house to get changed for dinner.

We had just enough time to change into our glad rags (and of course Uncle Col threw the shake weight for Bazzie a few times) and head off to the restaurant for dinner.

Since it was our 4 year anniversary on the 1st (not the 5th!) we decided to go and enjoy a yummy dinner at the Melting Pot, a local fondue restaurant.  We’d been there once before, the Maddens hadn’t, but wanted to check it out.

Magz and Sam enjoying the cheese!Sticks!!

Dinner was lovely, drinks were better (as always!).

Entrees

We started with the Cheddar fondue (which they add beer too!), for my entree, I had the ‘Signature Selection’, which included, filet mignon, white shrimp, teriyaki-marinated sirloin, breast of chicken and cedar-plank salmon.  Col had the Pacific Rim, teriyaki-marinated sirloin, white shrimp, citrus-marinated pork tenderloin, breast of duck, breast of chicken and potstickers.

For dessert, we tried something different.  Last time we had the ‘smores’ chocolate.  This time, we tried the ying and yang chocolate.  It was divine!

Group pic!

The whole evening was lovely, the food was great, the company was great and the server was a lot of fun, unobtrusive and efficient.

Sunday Col and I chilled at home, we watched the Grand Prix and to be honest, we did little else!

Monday morning, brought with it SSA Board meeting at the Sugar Land SLB campus (I don’t remember if I mentioned being voted in for a 2nd term to do my volunteer job!).  That morning Miss Magz wasn’t feeling so great and went to get checked up, I abandoned the board meeting a little premature to go check up on her.

By check up, I mean drag her in to the shopping mall, have lunch and go shopping! LOL!

I’m a great friend and a terrible representative!  After a quick trip to the Body Shop to change the ‘try me’ pot of foundation I bought for Amber, and to pick up our ‘free gift’ from our huge pink beach bag promotion the previous week.  As it turned out, the free gift wasn’t a trial size item like we originally thought it’d be.  In fact, it was a full size product and it was coconut flavoured – lush!

Tuesday brought Lunch Bunch! I don’t have the picture from the lunch as Lisa’s on holiday, but we had lunch in a gorgeous little French bistro on Westheimer called ‘Bistro Le Cep’.  We got a 3 course meal (which was delicious!) for only $20!! I couldn’t believe the quality and taste of the food for the price we paid – it was a great lunch! I also had fun catching up with some friends who I’d not seen in a while.

The next couple of days were spent running errands, to the post office, library (to pick up a room-reservation form to reserve the room for my coupon talk in early June), Whole Foods (to get some Irish bangers for sausage casserole!), I dropped a few of Col’s shirts off to the dry cleaner’s, I went to the dentist for a tooth-correction (there was a sharp edge cutting my tooth!)

Friday, Col went to work in the morning, but came back for lunch (as we had a game that night so it made sense to come home and work from home in the afternoon).  We ended up eating in Carinos – again, with our pasta points, for free! It was yummy as always and we came outta there stuffed full!

That night, the Aeros faced game 1 of the Western Conference finals.  It was a big ole fashioned barn burner! The Toyota Centre had around 5,000 people in it, the team was like a different team, it was as though they’d started to believe.  It was fantastic to watch.

My boy Hackett was holding on to his shut out for the entire game, we were winning 2-0 right up until the last 50 seconds of the game.  It was at this point Hamilton remembered they were playing.  Poor Hacks deserved to keep his shut-out.  He too was a renewed goal tender and absolutely stood on his head!

Saturday we didn’t do much of anything, Col slept in, I ran out to search for a few bits and pieces (which I didn’t find) and pick up some fresh fruit and veggies.

In the afternoon, we closed the blinds, popped some popcorn and stuck on a movie, The American President (Michael Douglas and Martin Sheen).  It was a lovely afternoon of cuddling on the sofa with my boy!

We decided to order Chinese in for dinner, it’d been a while since we’d ordered Chinese food and it was delicious!  We got out some old favourites Star Trek Voyager and West Wing and watched TV until 3am!

Sunday, Col washed the Griffin, I made a hot pot and between episodes of Hells Kitchen, The Apprentice and the Eurovision, we went to see the Aeros take on game 2 against the Bulldogs.

Col, T and Dan

We went with our friend Theresa and her son Daniel – the Aeros pulled out another great game, a big win and had a great night.

McMasters at the game...

Monday 16th, I was running errands up the Wazoo, between which, I went to the SSA Painting with a Twist.

It was great fun – it was a two hour class, where we came out the other side with a painting…

painting!
Our group!

My only complaint was, that there wasn’t enough time – I wasn’t happy with my piece and need to pick up some supplies to fix it cause it’s incomplete at the moment!

When I was done, it was back to the Body Shop to pick up my free gift, Dry Cleaners to pick up Col’s shirts which weren’t ready, Michaels, Joanns, Borders (but I was too late cause they’d closed!), back to the Dry Cleaners, home for an hour before we headed out to dinner with the Fab Four!

Magz and Sam were heading off home for a few weeks, I was going to Iowa, so we decided to have a yummy ‘last supper’ in our favourite Mexican restaurant Chuys.  It was beaucoup de fun! As always!

We didn’t get home til almost 11 (on a school night? tut tut!) but we DID manage to discover that the price of Gas had started to come down! whoot! Yay for Obama saying we can go drill up in Alaska – knee jerk price hikes slowed in a heartbeat!

Tuesday was the newcomers coffee.  It was a pretty big one as newcomers coffee’s go – and it was a resounding success.  I don’t do much, other than show up, talk to the newcomers and make introductions.  Sally, however, she has to plan it and action it, shop for it and clean up after it – and she does a rockin’ job every time!

I came away having met some new people and connected with some fairly new people who I’d seen once or twice.  It was a great morning of fun and I came away leaving in a fantastic mood – as I tend to do with SSA events!

That’s all for now – I was a very good girl and blogged my trip on the plane home from Iowa, so that’ll not be too far away – I bet y’all are gripped 😉

Until next time!
