And the reds go marching on, on, on!

This blog is brought to you from the house of the damned!

Sun burn has invaded and made the boys demons to live with.  My hands are constantly covered in lidocane infused aftersun gels and lotions and they are often seen wandering half nekkid and sneezing around the house shivvering cause the cooling lotion makes them freeze in the AC.

Not only that but they groan and complain every time they move.  It’s not pretty, they hurt, they radiate and they look radio active!

The crazy ride continued today, starting slow here in Sugar Land, sunburn laden and exhausted Col headed up into the office for work, so I put the laundry away and did a few bits around the house.  Row had a lie in (not sleeping good with his sunburn) and played the PS3 for a while.

Col and I pre-game. Dying in the humidity!

Col came home early and took us to Chipotle to get some grub before we headed to the Reliant stadium.

Row and I

It was here at the Stadium that we made Row’s dream come true…something we’ve promised to do for a few years now…Ok, so it wasn’t Old Trafford but if you can’t bring Mohammed to the Mountain…we brought the mountain to Mohammed right here in sunny Houston!

Row with Fred the Red

We got there a little early but the queues were seriously long and it was way too hot out there, so we found a spot in the shade to wait for T and Daniel to arrive.

Col, Theresa and I at the game

I’m not a big football fan, it’s not something that floats my boat.  I am, however, a fan of live sports so once the game kicked off I got right into it!

During the game Rowan got complemented on his Valencia shirt by a butt-load of people and ended up befriending some guy behind us who was a Man U fan.  This guy, and one of his friends single handedly tried to start the Mexican wave in the stadium.  A small group of people around him joined in to help them (including us 3) and before long the entire stadium was doing the wave – it was quite the spectacle!

The game itself was good, it wasn’t quite what you could call a competitive game, but it was fun to watch.  The All stars had one or two players that even impressed me (and I can’t tell football talent from a football like!).

Final score

Needless to say, Man Utd won although the All stars took advantage of the Reds complacency towards the end of the game and had the crowd going mad with every forward rush they made!

Victory lap applauding the fans – something I’ve found American athletes don’t do here..

It was after the game that Theresa and I got ourselves in to a spot of bother.  We got outside and headed to the metro and there were two queues waiting for the trains.  It sounds all orderly and tame, however, it was not.  The place was insane, a total cluster f*ck.

There was no one directing people where to go, no signs, just two lines of people – and most people were in the wrong line cause they didn’t know what line to be in.  We saw that one of the trains left relatively empty and that was it.  We ploughed ahead (yes, otherwise known as cutting the line) to see what the heck was going on with the lines.

About half way up, some guy and his lady took great offense to this and started causing ructions, it didn’t take much for the ‘orderly crowd’ to start turning nasty and it wasn’t the first or last incident of the night. Hollering for the po-lice to come and carry us off to jail and such.

When we got to the front of the line, I saw a policeman sending back 2 guys to the back – who had just done what Theresa and I had done.  So, I walked up to one of the cops on duty and I told him that the reason those guys cut was the same reason that we did, it was an utter clusterf*ck, there’s no direction, no signs, no one explaining where people has to go, tempers are high and flaring and it’s going to errupt.  I talked to two Houston PD cops about this and one of the park attendants and told him that it was going to get a little out of hand if it wasn’t fixed fast!

However, we all made it out of there alive and had a great time (even if the T-shirts were all sold out by the end of the match and we couldn’t get any!).  It was so odd to be so surrounded by that number of expats and Man U shirts – really bizarre!

We got home to find this little fella on the ceiling,

Giggsy the salamander

We named him Giggsy lol! Last year we had 2 salamanders frequent the house over the summer and they definitely kept the place clean of little flies and spiders etc.  So he can stay as long as he pulls his weight 😉 LOL! He’s definitely only a wee baby compared to the size of the other two we had here last year, he’s only a fraction of their size!

Today we didn’t do much, Rowan slept in late cause his sunburn is making it difficult for him to sleep.  I went to CVS and did a coupon shop (spent $54, saved $21 and got $24.99 back in ECBS).  I mainly needed aftersun care for the boys, picked up some suncream that was on offer and some nappies for Amber’s visit with Averie in October cause she’s already outgrown the nappies I’ve got upstairs for her!

It was also a HUGE mail day for me today, I got a whole bunch of wedding stuffs, samples and mail in rebate cheques…Col got what he always gets – bills and more bills! LOL!

I think the boys are going to try and play footie tonight in Pearland, or at least Col is, Rowan is in agony with this sunburn!

Tomorrow night it’s baseball time!

  1. Wow! The fun keeps on going! Seriously I am going to have to come and visit if this is how you show all your visitors a night(s) on the town. 😉

It seems that you’ve seen both sides of people in this country(though I am sure they are everywhere) nice and charitable and mean and aggressive.

  2. Haha we do! We love taking people out and showing them a good time when they are visiting…there’s just wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much to fit into such a short space of time!

Teah we saw both sides in less than 72 hours although, to be fair, we did cut in line! LOL
