The weekend following the one filled with sporting fun, turned out to be a busy one in spite of being sport-free…Friday night, we started off slowly, we enjoyed some late night TV watching (we’ve grown pretty addicted to Dexter, so we’ve been pulling the ‘occasional’ late nights!).
Saturday we had a quick breakfast and over lunchtime, we’d offered to babysit for our friends Julie and Sherif so they could go and have a nice lunch together, baby free!
Little Zane is a cute little monkey. He’s at the stage where he’s singing songs, makes his little sister laugh and curious about everything.
He loved when uncle Col put some UK kids shows on the TV, like Bob the Builder and Art Attack! (Yes, it’s still on TV!)
Little Hazel is getting bigger by the day, she’s so quiet, sweet and takes everything in her stride.
She loves getting cuddles from her uncle Col!
When their parents came by to pick them up, we decided to head out to World Market, we had a $10 off $30 coupon, we’d not been in a while – and we were both missing some ‘from home’ delicacies.
As it turned out, our World Market had been closed down for a while now *sniff* so sad! Instead, we headed up to the one near Magz and Sam, in Col’s ‘old hood’. We came out with a basket full of stuff, including one prize Cadbury’s Flake Easter egg which we got for three bucks and some change!
On our way home, we got a text from my friend Crystal. She was asking if we wanted to head to her house for a BBQ, did we ever?! LOL!
We enjoyed some delicious meats, salad, chips with dips and a great dessert of an old American favourite – Smores!
Such a great evening with both the Maddens and the lovely Bridge family!
Sunday we awoke to a phonecall from Col’s lovely nana Lily (and my back having gone during the night!) She’s one of the only people who call me by my full name, every time she says it. When we’re back in sunny Ireland, we can easily spend a day with her and not notice it go past, she’s a great conversationalist and a very interesting lady. She misses her grandson lots and we both miss her both greatly.
It was a lovely start to our Easter Sunday to have a call from Nana, it’d been a while since we’d chatted to her.
More often than not, we have a Sunday roast for dinner. This Sunday was no different, except for the fact that we had a big-ass ham (next to a scrummy chicken).
When Magz, Sam and the pups left, Col and I tidied a little and got ourselves kitted out and ready for the beach. We didn’t leave the house until around 3pm, but I really wanted to go to the beach – even just for an hour. I dunno why, but I’ve developed a love for Galveston beach lately.
The water, the sand, the weather (even if it was a little windy), the drive there and home – just makes for a perfect afternoon, and soon enough, it’ll get too hot for me to enjoy, so off we went!
We enjoyed a lovely wee swim in the gulf of Mexico, we sat in our beach chairs reading our books and enjoyed a delicious dinner in Saltgrass on the shore-front (complete with an entertainment guide coupon of course!) before we took the long drive home.
En route home, we took a quick stop in Bucees. Hidden away out in the middle of nowhere, Bucees was a welcome pit-stop for a warm drink, some beach-esque postcards (and the loo!)
It was a great weekend, we may have kept busy, but it was with great people and we had a blast!
Until next time…
