Does anyone else think this year is flying? I really can’t believe how fast it goes. Every year is the same, yet every year seems like it goes faster than the last. It’s hard to believe that we’re over halfway through 2010. It’s insane. I’m just glad I’m such an organisation freak, otherwise this swiftly upcoming wedding would be kickin’ my butt!
This week I’ve had a number of people send me private messages about this blog. It’s kind of funny, cause I see that it’s getting hits, but I figure it’s the same 3 people coming back to read it multiple times a day (LOL!!) I didn’t think people I rarely speak to or who I’ve not seen in years would want to read it and keep up to date with our goings on over here. But they apparently do and it’s nice to hear that people enjoy reading it. In fact, one person said they were ‘totally hooked and feel like a stalker’, haha!
Anyways, Friday I was bullied by Amber bit the bullet and went to see the Doctor. My regular Doc, Dr Albritton was booked solid for 3 days and if I didn’t get to see a Doc soon Amber would drag me by the ear I might not have survived the weekend (as Col would probably have killed me to silence my whining!). I went to another Doc, a young lady, Dr Gadgil, who loved my accent and made me sit and talk with her for a good 10 minutes once she discovered that my American accent wasn’t my own! lol! She prescribed me a 5 day course of antibiotics which totally knocked the wind out of my sails by Friday afternoon and left me sneezing like a loon!
Friday also marked the start of the World Cup. Col (and I, team name the ‘Mighty Dominoes’) entered sweepstakes with Colin Stevenson and 15 other Schlumberger guys/couples, we had to predict the scores of every game in the first round. So far, in short, we suck! haha!
Our weekend was a productive one! Poor Col was left with little choice really. I get grumpy when things stagnate, when there is no forward motion with things and on Saturday morning, in spite of me not being fully recovered I decided it would be a pro-active weekend for the two of us! As soon as I got downstairs I started my first load of laundry (which turned out to be the first of 6!), made us the American equivalent of a fry (complete with some of our potato bread that we smuggled through customs brought back with us!).
After our ‘fry’ we swung in to action, I spent 4 hours absolutely cleaning the cr@p out of our upstairs. Visit https://system4dfw.com/blog/ to learn new and easy tips and tricks to keep your home neat and tidy always. The ‘master bathroom’, our walk in wardrobe that was designed by Custom Closet Designer, our bedroom, part of the guest bathroom and part of the spare bedroom. I was exhausted by the end of it and I hurt from top to bottom. I really went all out with the cleaning – and it’s possible that I might have mixed a few chemicals (which may or may not have left me floating for the rest of the evening!). It was quite the work out! As her comment is here ,You can also refer this while you are cleaning.
While I was cleaning upstairs, (before and after the USA/England game) Col cleaned the kitchen from top to bottom (something I didn’t even ask him to do!), he sprayed both the inside and the outside of the house for bugs (and I don’t mean spiders and daddy longlegs – tis the season for ROACHES and there’s NOTHING I hate more!), he also weeded the front and part of the back of the house (which has needed done for a while but neither of us are ‘garden-ly inclined’).
The nasty bit of this, however, was that he’d left the bin out in the garage to dry – he’d used it for all the weeds and it was mucky, so he hosed it down before bringing it back in to the house. Before we turned in for the night he went out to bring it in. It was then I heard the clatter of the bin falling on to the tiles, Col cursing loudly and calling for the bug spray. A roach had taken a ride indoors on the bin. UGH. If those things don’t give you the heeby jeebies I dunno what will. I say again – UGH. He was dealt with in short order and will hopefully be the last of his kid we see all summer – cause neither of us handle the Roach factor very well.
We were both utterly knackered by early evening and after watching the F1 Qualifying we turned in for the night (Col sat up reading for a while but I was long since passed out! lol!).
This morning was my regular ‘solo’ jaunt out in the car for my coupon shop, I picked up the Sunday paper, did Walgreens, CVS and decided to venture a little further afield in my travels for a change and headed over to Michaels (which wasn’t the best idea for the credit card but it certainly got me a little more experience behind the wheel!). When I got home, I woke Col (and showed him all of my purchases – which, contrary to what he might say, is in fact, his favourite part of the week! LOL!) and had chocolate chip waffles while watching the Canadian Grand Prix.
The afternoon has been a lazy one, turns out that although the antibiotics might be getting rid of whatever infection I have, they haven’t prevented me from picking up a tummy bug that has left me poorly all day (not to mention my back has gone from yesterdays enthusiastic cleaning!) and poor Col is like a dart board with skeeter bites scattered across him which I insist on putting lotion on to stop him scratching his skin off!
Col also has taken to kicking the indoor football (that he got for his weekly kick around with the SLB guys in Pearland around the house) – which has led to pre-emptive scoldings from me every time he goes near it. When we were younger my dad dealt in a lot of antiques, add Rowan and a football and it always spelt disaster. We might not have antiques here, but I’d quite like all of our stuff to stay in one piece, especially when Col’s not exactly a seasoned football player and Col’s idea of dribbling usually results in me breaking out the kitchen roll!
War wounds aside we’ve had a pretty good weekend, we got pictures back from Averie’s first birthday party in Iowa, we finally got to watch the Britain’s got Talent final online, caught up on Hells Kitchen, watched an episode or two of The Riches (which is turning out to be quite a good show!), we also finished season 2 of Blackadder and got started into the newest Big Brother from back home (the US version starts next week!).
The coming week is already shaping up to be a busy one, I’ll be trying to get back in the pool at least 3 mornings (after a week off cause I’ve been sick), I’ll also be trying to start some reading of the Texas Drivers Handbook in preparation for my driving test (have no clue when that’ll be but it’s better to start early!) we’ll be babysitting for baby Michael tomorrow night, Tuesday night is my night out with the SSA ladies for pizza (and possibly a movie) and Wednesday night Col is back at footie, which means it’s gym night for me!
Nothing much else to report at the moment except that in 4 weeks and 2 days my lil brother will come to visit and I can’t freakin’ WAIT!! We’re already making mental plans of what we want to do when he’s here and where we want to take him!
